The history of Alpo, a luxury glove maker that uses high-quality soft leather and cashmere, began in the latter half of the 19th century with the handicrafts of the Portolano family in Naples, Italy. Founder Fortunato Portolano's eldest son, Alberto, established a consistent system from manufacturing to sales and opened shops in Florence, Naples and Palermo. A unique tanning process on carefully selected cowhide makes the leather extremely soft. In terms of design, Alpo is the first glove brand to employ top-notch designers and evolve gloves into fashion accessories, and its high fashionability is also one of Alpo's attractions.
