A casual staple bucket hat for everyday wear. The standard weave Madras check fabric is made from pure cotton, handwoven by our expert weavers in Madras, India, and has the lightweight, breathable thread structure and texture that characterizes traditional Madras check. It is then cut and sewn by our expert tailors.

The Original Madras Trading Company was founded in the early 1970s when a trunk full of Madras check was brought to New York.
We still supply many of the well-known brands in the US from the same office. We source our fabrics in South India and produce them through our New York office. Madras check is defined as 100% cotton, yarn dyed, flat weave, with an uneven pattern of at least two colors, and most importantly, woven in Madras, Indian cotton. Originally and still today, the best Madras fabrics are hand woven.
