Sperry Topsider was born in the United States as the world's first deck shoe brand.
Originally, these functional shoes were made to prevent slipping on the deck of a wet yacht (deck), and feature a rubber outsole with fine horizontal grooves in a wavy pattern called a Sperry sole.
Today, Sperry Topsiders have earned their place as a popular sneaker and leather shoe brand as a fashion statement.
