G.H.BASSは世界で初めてローファーを作ったアメリカの老舗シューズブランド。
1876年にメイン州ウィルトン市にて、ジョージ・ヘンリー・バス(George Henry Bass)氏によって設立される。靴屋で働いていたバス氏は、当時の労働者のシューズやアウトドアシューズに疑問を持ち自らで靴を作ることを決意。地方のいち工場を所有していたE.P.Packard＆Co.の株を買ったことがきっかけで、靴作りをスタート。のちにオーナーとなり、社名を自身の名前から取ってG.H.BASSへと改名している。
G.H.BASS is a long-established American shoe brand that made the world's first loafer.
The company was founded in 1876 in Wilton, Maine, by George Henry Bass. While working in a shoemaker's shop, Mr. Bass had doubts about the workers' shoes and outdoor shoes of the time and decided to make his own shoes. He bought a share of E.P. Packard & Co., which owned a local factory, and started making shoes. He later became the owner and renamed the company G.H.BASS after his own name.
