The history of "Alpo," a luxury glove manufacturer using high quality, soft leather and cashmere, starts in the late 19th century with the handcraft industry of the Portolano family in Naples, Italy. Alberto, the eldest son of the founder Fortunato Portolano, developed an integrated system from manufacturing to sales, and opened stores in Florence, Naples, and Palermo. The leather is made very soft by applying a unique tanning process to carefully selected cowhide. In terms of design, Alpo was the first glove brand to employ a top designer to transform the glove into a fashion accessory, and the high level of fashion is also an appealing feature of Alpo. While maintaining its long tradition, Alpo continues to offer high quality gloves with an unchanged entrepreneurial spirit, striving for further improvement in quality and design.
