A relaxed, boxy oversized shirt.
The fabric is a double-weave, high-density blend of 74% cotton and 26% hemp, specially woven for MAN-TLE in Aichi Prefecture.
This heavy, smooth fabric is hand-dyed in a small atelier in Kyoto, a remarkably labor-intensive process where only 5 meters are dyed at a time.
The process begins with an underdye of "sumi" (ink), followed by countless repetitions of soaking and rinsing in "Ryukyu indigo." From the cultivation of the raw plant material to its fermentation and refinement, Ryukyu indigo, produced by the skilled hands of a few artisans, forms layers of deep, tranquil blue that cannot be replicated by synthetic indigo.
The silhouette is a relaxed, boxy shape, designed in MAN-TLE's distinctive style with functional wide front pockets. Details such as side-seam vents and pleated cuffs demonstrate a meticulously calculated construction.
With repeated washing, the heavy fabric softens and unravels, allowing you to enjoy the unique aging process as the sumi ink and indigo blend together.
