Filson was founded in Seattle, Washington in 1897 as an outdoor clothing manufacturer to take on the challenge of the gold rush. Because clothing is subjected to heavy use in gold mining, an extremely harsh environment for clothing, we began producing clothing using the finest natural materials and uncompromising design and sewing, and eventually became a staple for men working in Alaska and the Northwest.
