DESCRIPTION
[Item details]
This potpourri dish, specially ordered by MAIDENS SHOP, is eye-catching for its naturalistic work by Komura Somei and the unique harmony that only nature can create when potpourri is placed on it.
This is an extremely rare item as it is only produced twice a year.
[ Komurakihan ]
Ryukyu Nanban (Arayachi) is made in a workshop in Niraikanaibashi, Nanjo City, in the southern part of Okinawa's main island.
There are two types of pottery in Okinawa: Joyachi (high-grade ware) and Arayachi (raw ware), and Furumura Someshi uses the Arayachi method.
Arayaki is mainly unglazed pottery, and is generally called "yakishime" or "nanban."
The clay is made from clay from the southern part of Okinawa's main island, called Jaagaru, Maaji, Kucha, and Niibi, and is fired in a wood-fired kiln called anagama, using Ryukyu pine firewood, for approximately six days.
While general pottery suppresses the individuality of the clay and prioritizes the shape,
Komura Someshi's Ryukyu Nanban cuisine is created by facing the fire and earth alone, listening intently to the voice of nature, in order to be close to the earth and make the most of its individuality.
