This season's theme is "Faroe Islands".
The Faroe Islands are an archipelago located between Norway and Iceland, and are an autonomous territory of Denmark located in the cold waters between the Norwegian Sea and the North Pacific Ocean. I was drawn to the extremely natural scenery in a photo that a friend showed me, so I decided to visit this island during the winter of 23AW, where no trees grow and there are more sheep than humans.
The Faroe Islands were more of a natural part of the earth than you would call natural. Fog that blurs the boundaries between sky and earth, spray of freezing water gushing out from rock faces, and moss-covered ground. Earth and water pool.
You can feel the beginnings of life on Earth, as if there were no humans yet.
A hazy image of fog. The color of thin ice in the water splashes. Gradation of the strata of the earth. Faroes sheep have wool that soaks up seawater and oil to protect their skin. These became the colors and materials for this collection.
