Filson was founded in Seattle, Washington in 1897 as an "outdoor clothing manufacturer" to take on the gold rush. Because clothing is subjected to heavy use in gold mining, an extremely poor environment for clothing, we began producing clothing using the finest natural materials and uncompromising design and sewing, and eventually became a staple for men working in Alaska and the Northwest. It has come to be said that the FILSON mark is synonymous with trust. When it comes to wool, it still takes more than two years to process the process from shearing the raw wool to finishing it into a product, and because of that stubbornness, it has been used by American forest rangers, lumberjacks, hunters, and adventurers who live in harsh natural environments.
