BERTIES OF BAY

It started with the purchase of a small locked shop in Robin Hood's Bay, North Yorkshire, England. Owner MATTHEW creates products with a love for the culture and fashion of the Yorkshire coast and surrounding areas.

The first thing we worked on was the revival of the traditional GANSEY JUMPER.
A traditional jumper worn by fishermen, it is woven without seams in an intricate, recognizable pattern and is designed to trap heat in and let water out.

MATTHEW sought help from experts, borrowing jumpers from museums, working with local historians, reading a lot of books, and finding local people willing to work with him to revive these traditional jumpers. We are looking for companies that will bring us back to life.
