[ORIGINAL MADRAS TRADING COMPANY]
The Original Madras Trading Company was founded in the early 1970s when a trunk full of Madras check was brought to New York.
We still supply many of the best-known brands in the US from the same office. We source our fabrics from South India and distribute them through our New York office. Madras check is defined as 100% cotton, yarn-dyed, plain weave, with an uneven pattern of at least two colors, and most importantly, woven in Madras, from Indian cotton. Originally, and still today, the best Madras fabrics are handwoven.
